Abandoned bag causes panic at Junction Mall in Nairobi
Police are investigating the source of a bag that was left abandoned
at Junction Mall on Sunday evening. The bag was found in the basement of the
building which forced the tenants of the mall to be evacuated causing tension
and panic.
The area was cordoned off with security experts being called in and after
along search the bag was found to be containing 12 beer bottles.
The bag was carried away for further investigations. The police don’t
know who left the bag but they are reviewing the CCTV footage to establish
that.
Nairobi police boss Benson Kibue assured the public that there was no
need to panic over the discovered bag.
“The bag had 12 empty bottles of beer and we don’t know if someone left
it intentionally or as garbage. But we are investigating,” he said
He also said that the police are on alert and they will keep responding.
This comes after intelligence reports said that terror groups are
planning to attack strategic places in the country.
