Former president kibaki bids farewell to his brother

Former president Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday buried his elder brother Bernard Ndiritu in Othaya, Nyeri County.
The deceased gave up his chance to attend school to his younger brother Mwai Kibaki, who proceeded to be Kenya’ third post-independence President.
Mzee Ndiritu died last week on Madaraka day at the age of 88.
The burial ceremony was held at Iria-ini Catholic Church.
Mr Kibaki described his brother as a loving, peaceful and social person whose life will be celebrated by many people.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was represented at the funeral by Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi. He described Mzee Ndiritu as a kind, generous and courageous person.
“I applaud him for the struggle of independence and for the role he played for society and the church.” President Kenyatta’s message read in part.
Othaya Member of Parliament Mary Wambui called on Kenyans to be humble just like Mzee Ndiritu was.
The late Mzee Ndiritu left behind a widow, Martha Njeri, eight children and several grandchildren.
