winning actress Lupita Nyong’o broke down to tears as she listened to a choral
verse by pupils of Mariwa Primary School in Kisumu County touching on the state
of insecurity in the country.
Tears flowed freely on the Hollywood star’s cheeks as she keenly followed the pupil’s narration.
Lupita had visited her native home in Ratta Village for the first time since she won the coveted Oscar award, and when she took to the stage to talk to the hundreds of residents who had gathered at Ratta Primary School to catch a glimpse of the renowned actress, she did not mince her words as she encouraged the young generation to work on their dreams.
“You may be facing numerous challenges at home. Your parents could be poor or you could be living with relatives who are not supportive and feel alone in the world. Let this not define you or your future. You were created to achieve more and to be the best the world can have.” Lupita told the dazzled crowed.
There were also moments when Lupita, who was in the company of her parents, laughed freely as pupils gave thrilling performances.
