Over 30 Passengers Injured in early morning accident in Nairobi.

More than 30 passengers were seriously injured Wednesday morning in an  accident involving two buses at the junction of Pangani Police Station in Nairobi.
One bus from the Central Business District while the other one was from Eastleigh with passengers, witnesses and police said. Police say they both collided at the junction leaving at least 34 passengers with multiple injuries. The 5am accident happened because none of the drivers wanted to give way for the other, said Pangani head of traffic Jeniffer Mutuku. “Both drivers were speeding and despite traffic lights at the junction, none of them wanted to follow the rules.,” said Ms Mutuku.
The injured were rushed to various hospitals while the wreckages of the buses were towed to the Pangani Police Station. Passengers’ belongings including shoes, clothes and foodstuffs were strewn all over the area as five ambulances that arrived there rushed the injured to hospital. Police say they have launched investigations into the incident and that the drivers are among those injured. Witnesses said they heard loud bang and screams from the injured passengers before they rushed to rescue them.
“The injured had multiple injuries. I blame the two drivers for the accident,” said a witness, Joseph Rwoti. Most of the passengers were small scale traders.
