Two Police officers die while escorting suspects to court in early morning accident



Nanyuki - Two police officers have died in a grisly road accident along Narumoru- Nanyuki highway while escorting suspects to Nanyuki law courts.
The 15 suspects were arrested on Thursday night during a crackdown on illicit brew dens and had been locked up at Narumoru police station.
Another officer was seriously injured and is admitted at a Nanyuki Hospital in critical condition.
According to an eyewitness, John Ring’iru, the police Land Cruiser lost control and veered off the road, rolling severally before landing into a ditch.
He said the driver was trying to overtake a lorry when the vehicle lost control during the 8.30am incident.
Area police boss, Ancient Kaloki who was the first to arrive at the scene, said the 15 suspects were injured and have been rushed to Nanyuki hospital for treatment.
The drunken suspects had been arrested in various trading centres at Kieni East sub-County.
The wreckage was towed to Narumoru Police Station.
