Why Kenya Was Taken Off Human Trafficking Watch List By The US

A new report shows that Kenya has improved on human trafficking and is no longer ranked with nations considered among the worst offenders.
According to the study by the US State Department the progress shown by Kenya means that the nation doesn’t stand to lose out on aspects of funding. The report was released on Monday, July 27, 2015.
Kenya is not the only nation in the 2015 Trafficking in Persons Report. 188 countries in total were evaluated for their situation in dealing with human trafficking.

Countries were given rankings in three categories. In the past three years Kenya belonged to Tier Three, the worst ranking, reports Business Daily Africa.
The report cites areas of improvement for Kenya stating, “robust efforts to implement the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act (2012), prosecution of 65 trafficking cases (more than double the number in 2013), passing of the Victim Protection Act in September 2014 and reining in private overseas employment agencies.”
The report criticized Kenya for not providing enough support for adult victims of human trafficking.
