Kisii Man Hangs Himself After Wife Dumps Him



A week is barely over after a man drowned himself in Lake victoria after he was left by his wife. A similar incident has been experienced in Kisii.
Villagers in Mwamosioma, Kisii were shocked after one of the residents hanged himself after he was left by his wife. The man named Benson Matunda is said to have disagreed with his wife some days earlier following her decision to Join University. After the disagreement the woman took off back home in Nakuru.

A neighbor, Winnie Atieno, said that on Saturday September 12, 2015 Benson came home after work, and asked if his wife had been seen in the area.

When he came home on Saturday evening, he asked me if his wife had come back, after which I told him I had not seen her,” said Atieno.
She recounted that he then got into his house and was not seen again for the rest of the evening.

The neighbors got concerned the next day when Benson didn’t leave his house, especially after his colleague at Coko Beach Hotel in Kisii town had passed by his house for the two to go to work together, and tried to call him to no avail.
When the neighbor peeped through a window, they saw his body hanging from the ceiling with a rope around his neck.
Another colleague, Eric Mogirango, reported that Benson seemed uncomfortable about his wife’s idea to join the university.
Benson and his wife had been staying in the area for about nine months after moving in from Kebirigo, Nyamira County.
Charles Ogwang’, a village elder, reported the incident to police and called for investigations.
