Drama in court as part bhang which was part of evidence in a case was missing

There was drama in a Kwale court when police said that rats invaded their station and fed on several rolls of bhang which were part of 1,710 rolls that had been kept as evidence against a case.
Surprisingly though, police failed to prove to the resident magistrate how the rats made away with the rolls without puncturing holes in any of the suitcase that were carrying the bhang.
It all started when three police constables were testifying in a case four women were nabbed ferrying the bhang from Migori to Ukunda, Kwale County.

According to Kenya News Agency, the police officers told the court that the rodents invaded the storage of the exhibits and fed on some of the some of the bhang.

The bhang was nabbed in July 2014 while being ferried  by Pauline Moraa, Elizabeth Atieno, Nancy Auma, and Mercy Achieng.
A lawyer representing one of the accused had taken the police officers to task to explain why the quantity of the bhang had reduced.
Hearing of the case  is scheduled for December 16, 2015 as prosecution and the defense differed on the real value of the bhang.
