Two students in meru teachers collage arrested for causing a terror scare.
Detectives in Meru are interrogating two college students for allegedly causing terror scare.
The two, who were arrested on Sunday morning, are first year students at Meru Teachers College.
Imenti North Sub-County AP Commander Peter Karanja told Nation.co.ke that police responded to a call by the college’s deputy principal who informed them that students were in fear on Saturday night after one of them spread rumours that a terror attack could occur in the college.
“The deputy principal informed police that the students were on Saturday fearing to stay in the school compound after rumours spread that something sinister could occur in the institution.
“We responded in time to secure the school and assured students of their security,” he said.
It is alleged that a male student had informed his girlfriend that there could be an attack on the college.
The male student had reported to the institution on Friday.
His girlfriend then informed a friend who passed on the information to other students.
Some students sneaked out of school due to fear of being attacked.
On Saturday, the male student and his girlfriend did not spend the night in the institution.
Police said they had booked a room in Meru Town.
They sneaked back to school on Sunday.
