A matatu in Githurai runs over pedestrians Killing 5




Five pedestrians lost their lives on Wednesday night after they were run over by a speeding Nissan matatu along the Thika super highway in Githurai.
Three died on the spot and the other two succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital. According to reports the Matatu was heading to Thika from the City centre when it lost control and ploughed into the pedestrians, shops and hit an electric post.
The police boss said they are still looking for the driver who fled from the scene after the accident.

He said unroadworthy public service vehicles will not be allowed on the roads, and warned reckless drivers that their days are numbered.
It’s unfortunate that people die from mistakes that could be avoided. We will apprehend the driver as he is registered as a member of Manchester Sacco,” said Owino.
Two of the dead victims who died on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital have not yet been identified and their bodies are are lying at the hospital’s mortuary while the other three bodies have been transferred to the City mortuary
