PHOTOS: Man reveals why he stole the pope's water and drunk it

US congressman Bob Brady stole Pope Francis’ glass of water and drank it with his wife so that he could get the Holy See’s blessings.
The Pennsylvania congressman walked to the podium moments after Pope Francis had finished his speech and took the glass, which was half full of water and took a sip.
The congressman did not end there. The Pope’s glass still in his hand, he walked away to his office and had his wife, a friend and staff member take sips of the Pope’s water.
“I saw the Pope drinking out of it three or four times and I thought it would be a great idea … for me to have something of a remembrance of Pope Francis. I just saw the glass, I walked up and picked it up and kept it. I am sure it is blessed if the Pope drank out of it,” Brady is quoted by CNN.
Pennsylvania senator, Bob Casey, together with his wife, mother and representative Joe Crawley joined in the blessings galore by dipping their fingers in the water to sanctify themselves.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported that this is not the first time that Brady pulled such a stunt. He did the same after President Barack Obama’s inauguration although he just saved the glass and did not drink from it. In Pope Francis’ case, Brady would save the cup but have the police dust it for fingerprints to prove the Pope used it.
