Here is why you could be Charged upto Ksh 300,000 for spitting in Busia County
It will be a rough time for people who will be caught spitting in busia
as they could be fined a minimum of Ksh 20,000 and a Maximum of Ksh 300,000 if
the proposed Busia County Waste Management Bill is passed.
“Residents of the county might end up paying hefty
fines if found spitting within the town once the bill is assented to by
Governor Sospeter Ojaamong “ County Executive for
Environment and Natural Resources Bernard Yaite said.
The tough laws are in a bid to keep the border town clean as it is a key
entry point into the country from Uganda and Tanzania.
We have employed women and youth to clean Busia,
Malaba, Bumala, Port Victoria and Nambale towns daily in order to keep them
clean,” Yaite is quoted.
Busia County Government is planning to ensure dustbins are installed all
around the town and inside passenger PSVs so no one will have an excuse.
