Theft suspects survive Nairobi’s mob (in)justice

Woman lies unconscious after being beaten up by a crowd

Two people who were alleged to have stolen $500 (Sh52,000) and goods from a woman who had just jetted into the country from abroad were nearly lynched in Nairobi after they were tracked down by the victim.
Police officers had a rough time trying to repel a huge crowd that formed on Kimathi Street where the incident happened.
Eye witnesses said the youthful man and woman were cornered in the central business district with the some of the stolen goods. They were beaten and left for dead by a mob.
