SAD!! Tragedy as groom dies on wedding eve in Baringo





A bridegroom drowned on the eve of his wedding day after his car plunged into a dam in Baringo County.
The vehicle the man was driving plunged into Kirandich Dam near Kabarnet town Friday.
According to his friend Mr David Mungai who survived the incident, the groom was driving when the incident occured.
"On the way back, the deceased, who was driving, was unlocking his phone and did not notice a bend. He lost control of vehicle and it plunged into the dam," said Mr Mungai.
He said he managed to open the door and swim to safety but the groom, Mr John Mwangi, drowned.
Mr Mwangi worked in Meru County and was to wed on Saturday in Kabazi, Nakuru County on Saturday.
He had travelled to Baringo County to pick his in-laws in readiness for the wedding.
It took over 24 hours for police, with the help of local divers, to retrieve the body of the deceased and the vehicle from the dam.
Kirandich dam with a capacity of 3.7 million cubic litres supplies water to more than 60,000 people in Kabarnet town and its environs.
