Jared Otieno made history a few months ago when he landed in Meru with choppers and high-end cars to pay dowry for his girlfriend Kendi Mwiti, much to the consternation of many Kenyans.

It was KSh 15 million. After all Luo is a lifestyle. Some say it is a software that you download and install. Only specific gadgets accept this software. That is why Otieno is not your ordinary man.

There are those who dismissed his actions and termed them a publicity stunt. Others termed it traction attraction. But there are those who believed Otieno was up to something good.

And to prove the doubting Thomases wrong, Otieno has wedded his girlfriend in a very expensive, colourful wedding ceremony that went down this afternoon at the Windsor Hotel, Lake View.

Let me tell you how it happened:

Kendi and Otieno’s wedding will go down in Kenyan history as the most exciting one, the mostg organized and of course the most expensive. That is debatable though.

The bride arrived at Windsor on a white horse carriage from her parents’ home in Runda. The Kenya police band was matching in front of the bride as they played their sweet melodies.

Traffic was controlled by police. The best wedding vendors were sought to make everything heavenly here. The décor and beauty were all provided by Aura, photos taken by the best photographer in town, Ben Kiruthi, and the video by Jazanda Films.

Then there were MC Big Ted and DJ Kamjo who graced the wedding ceremony.

Among the notable high profile figures at the wedding were politicians, media personalities and everyone who fits into this rare circle. They included Senators Kiraitu Murungi, James Orengo, Anyang Nyong’o and his wife Dorothy Nyong’o, Naisula Lesuuda,

Then there were governors Amason Jeffa Kingi (Kilifi) and Jack Ranguma (Siaya). Others included Mutea Iringo, Citizen TV’s Swaleh Mdoe, comedian Jalang’o, Ambassador Chirau Ali Mwakwere and many others.

Things were not done yet. After the wedding the newest couple in town headed for Safari Park Hotel where MC Jessy and DJ Protégé were waiting to receive them and the exclusively invited guests. This is where the reception and evening party will go down.

The guests were also driven to the posh hotel along the Thika Superhighway in a convoy with police outriders. This is class people.

Jared (27) and Kendi (24) are parents to one little boy who was there to help them during the unity Sand ceremony where they mixed different colours of sand.

The unity sand ceremony is a contemporary alternative to the unity candle ceremony. Instead of lighting a candle, the couple pours different colors of sand into a unity vase. It’s a beautiful representation of union, which couples can keep long after the wedding.
