Hilarious Memes From Twitter Trend ‘Sabuni Ya 37k’
Yesterday, Sunday Nation ran a story claiming the government has allocated Sh37.5 million to buy 1000 bar soaps, translating to about Sh37,500 for a single bar. This is part of the money set aside to deal with the expected El-Nino rains.
This follows the ongoing trend by the national and county governments to steal our money by hiking prices of generally cheap commodities. We’ve seen it in wheelbarrows, gates, curtains etc.
As you can imagine, Kenyans were not amused by the news, and through their favourite platform – Twitter, they came out in large numbers.
Below we sample some of the reactions through the hashtag #SabuniYa37k.
