Personal protective measures against terrorism.

Terrorism has become a major threat to Kenya and many other countries. Terrorist attacks claim a lot of lives and due to this people get affected mentally and have a lot of fear and always feel insecure wherever they are. Terrorists can attack anywhere at any time and it can be very difficult to detect when and where terrorists will strike. But there are ways in which terrorists can be detected before they strike and also there are many precautions people should follow in case they are in such a scene.

SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR/ CIRCUMSTANCES

People should always be vigilant mostly when they are in public places. The key things that you can use to detect people with quire behaviors; is when you see:

        I.            People wearing clothing that is not consistent with the weather. i.e people wearing heavy coats when it is warm or very hot

      II.            People moving around taking photographs of a place yet they are not photographing themselves.

    III.            People monitoring or just moving around one particular area i.e near a building or entrances leading to a public area.

    IV.            People parking a car in a public area yet there is no one leaving the car.

      V.            Unauthorized people in restricted areas.

People should also be vigilant on

        I.            Unexpected /unfamiliar delivery trucks

      II.            Abandoned cars either on the streets or in any other public areas.

    III.            Any abandoned material like bags either in a supermarket or in any other public area.

    IV.            Any substance leaking or spilling from vehicles.

SECURITY IN SCHOOL HOSTELS

Students in school hostels should always be vigilant on some issues like:

        I.            You should keep your room key personally

      II.            You should be observant and report to friends or security in case you spot a stranger loitering in the area.

    III.            Be cautious on the type of people your room mates bring to the room. If you feel uncomfortable with it report to the administration or security. (trust your instincts)

    IV.            Always know the emergency exits

      V.            In case of a weird rumor do not just ignore or take it very serious try to verify or know more from reliable sources.
