TRUCKS BARRED FROM ACCESSING CBD. View story
Nairobi County Government has been lately on the move to
fight the causes of heavy traffic in the CBD. It has barred heavy trucks
weighing 8 tones and above from entering the CBD. Through facebook pages;
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero confirmed that this decision enforced by his
County Government is one of the ways of fighting heavy traffic in the CBD.
These trucks will not be allowed to use Uhuru highway to get
to the city centre. They are to use the new southern bypass which is nearly
completion. Trucks that are delivering goods to and from the city centre are
the ones allowed in the CBD.
The county government has also assured its residents that
all estate routes will be refurbished and used as alternatives to ease traffic
flow. Governor kidero was speaking during a tour to the southern bypass to see
the progress of its construction.
The Governor was accompanied by the Acting Cabinet Secretary
for Roads and Public Works James Macharia, Nairobi County Executive for Roads
Mohammed Abdulahi and celebrity singer Jackson Makini aka Prezzo.
