Makini pupils stranded as school bus halfway covered by water after heavy downpour.

Makini school bus yesterday stalled near South C Mosque following a two-hour downpour. The bus halfway covered by water and the pupils were trapped inside and reports had it that they were forced to climp to the top of the bus. The Emergency workers found it difficult to reach the stranded pupils since the depth of the water was too big and they were unable to navigate their way to the stalled bus.
Kenya Red Cross Secretary-General Abbas Gullet said his team and that from the Nairobi county fire department had been dispatched to the stuck school bus, but were finding it difficult to move through the water.
“We are aware of the situation and a team has been sent there but they are also stuck on the way. We are trying to find alternatives,” he said.
The school bus was stuck on a flooded section of Muhoho Avenue, half submerged, for several hours.

Motorists were stranded too and others were forced to drive back to look for alternative routes to their home destinations since they could not dare to risk navigating their way in the flooded areas.
