Kenyans urged to stop wrapping meat with newspapers as medics review its unhygienic.
There
has been an outbreak of cholera in the country and Kenyans are being warned
against using Newspapers as “meat-wrappers” as it is a health hazard. Medics
site the printing press, the mode of transportation used and the different
locations that the paper will pass through, they come into contact with disease
causing germs. All this is being said to be another cause of spreading cholera
which is already taking over most of the slum areas in the country. Everyone is
being adviced to stick to the main purpose of newspapers.

Suleh, Chair of the board at Health Rights Advocacy Forum says the practice of
wrapping meat with newspapers should be outlawed in the country.

Wrapping meat using newspapers can spread cholera,” says Dr Suleh, who has been
at the forefront in the ongoing fight against cholera in the country.
Newspapers
are a final product from recycled paper that might have been contaminated with harmful
chemicals that are feared to cause digestive problems and also lead to severe
toxicity. According to the health experts’ remarks, recycled paper may be
contaminated with harmful chemicals and also the printing ink is said to be
harmful too.
