What you should know about the Safaricom (theBIGBox) free to air setup box
Competition is stiff in the media sector as safaricom
launches their free to air digital TV decoder today. This is what you should
expect from the “theBIGbox.”
The BIG box decoder is designed in a big shape almost taking
recembrance of a video game player. “theBIGBox” will have 3G/4G Internet
capabilities, and it will act as an in-house Wi-Fi router(hotspot) and its
connectivity capabilities is 10 devices. The Box has HD capabilities that
ensure perfect video streaming straight to your Television set. It also comes
with free to air channels and will be able to receive Bamba channels like
Aljazeera.
You are not expected to pay a monthly subscription fee for
the channels but you should pay for the bundles. You only find “theBIGBox” at the safaricom
shop outlets but its price tag is quite surprising compared to other setup
boxes. It is going for KSH 10000 and comes with 6 months free internet.
Well due to its high cost, safaricom has become lenient and has
offered an easy payment method that will cost you an extra Ksh 1000. You will be expected to pay Ksh 5000 and then
KSH 1000 every month for 6 months. After the finishing the installments you
will have paid a total of KSH 11,000.
The price is quite high for many people to
afford during this hard economic times and considering it’s just few days just
after people have spent on back to school issues. Despite its high price its convenient
for frequent internet users since the bundles they are offering are quite
convincing
This is how the set up box looks like.
