Is parking fees the biggest expense when owning a car?? find out.
When you talk of car maintenance it doesn’t only refer only
to the expenses that you incur for service or repair. If you think of it
widely, there are other additional costs that add up to it. The daily expenses
that you incur when you are using the car i.e Washing, fuel, and parking. This
three are the most common expenses that motorists have to concur with every day
when using their vehicles and by the end of the day you come to find out that
this eats up more of the pocket.
Well dwelling on parking, parking in town areas is not
always free and people have to part with some amount of money to park their
cars even if you were stopping for just a minute. This fee turns out to be the
biggest expense that many motorists do not consider mostly the middle class
earners.
Taking an example in Nairobi where the parking fees is
always high you still find people prefer using the private means rather than
public yet you are coming from such a short distance which i.e parklands-
Nairobi and you end up paying a parking fee which is higher than the fuel that
the car has used.
Well there is another class of people who prefer parking
their cars on big supermarkets parking for long hours due to guaranteed
security not even considering that the parking fees is charged on the time
duration the car will be parked at the premises. And the amazing thing is you
will find them doing that on a daily basis. When you calculate the parking fees
for such people in a given year you come to find out that it almost amounts to
the value of the cars they are using.
