Reason behind drivers fleeing from the scene when they knock
down a pedestrian is that, some fear to be attacked by the witnesses and some
later show up and record statements with the police. Some flee since they do
not want to be liable and also fear of being arrested.
Reports have it that the 1800 installed cctv cameras in
Nairobi and its environs have helped to catch up with some of the drivers who
flee after knocking down pedestrians.
