This is what Machakos Governor & his wife welcomed the first lady when she visited their county
Last week, H.E the First Lady of
the Republic, Margaret Kenyatta, traveled to Machakos County to hand over her
32nd Beyond Zero mobile clinic to the County government. .
The first lady, who has shown unprecedented zeal in fighting maternal and infant mortality in the country, was warmly received by Machakos County Governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua and his wife Lillian
Days later and after reassuring Machakos County of her commitment to help it achieve 'zero' preventable maternal and child deaths, Mrs Kenyatta was presented with traditional gifts by her hosts as a sign of goodwill
The gifts included; a locally woven traditional basket popularly known as kyondo with a mukwa strap, a neck and arm beaded ornaments, an embellished dressing with its belt, traditionally worn by women leaders in the Kamba community, and a painting of local fauna.
