Facebook gaining a new look. This is what you should expect
Facebook has finally bowed to pressure from its customers and hinted that it is working on the demands to roll out the ‘DISLIKE’ button after the introduction of the ‘LIKE’ one six years ago.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the most successful social media platform in history, who has always opposed the introduction of the button finally revealed that his company is working on the same and it is only a matter of time before it is rolled out for the users.
“People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years – probably hundreds of people have asked about this. And today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it,” Zuckerberg is quoted by Express.Zuckerberg revealed that some of the reasons that have prompted him to give in to the ‘Dislike’ demands by Facebook users is that pressing “like” is not always appropriate for some posts, such as when people want to express sympathy about a tragic event.
He said that if one is sharing something that is sad, then someone may not feel comfortable to ‘like’ that post. He admitted that it is more important to give people more options than just liking everything when it is not supposed to be.
But why has it taken him this long to give in to the ‘dislike’ demands by Facebook users?
“Work on the button has been surprisingly complicated because we do not want users voting up or down on people’s posts. That doesn’t seem like the kind of community that we want to create. You don’t want to go through the process of sharing some moment that was important to you in your day and have someone downvote it. That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world,”the 31-year old revealed.Facebook is 11 years old and it commands the highest number of users in the world. In August, 2015, for the first time in its history, one billion people used it in a single day, something that gave its founder great pleasure. He said it is just the beginning of connecting the world.
