Reason why 10th June is a sad day to Kenya as a Nation and all its citizens



10th June is a day that that has a sad history to the Nation. Not many can recall some of the sad incidences that occurred during the 10th of June in two different years
It was on 10th June, 2008 when the country was shocked to the core. Ministers Kipkalya Kones and Lorna Laboso perished in a plane crash as they flew to the South Rift.


The two died near Kojong’a hills near Nairegi Enkare trading centrein Narok when the light aircraft they were flying in crashed, killing all the four occupants.
At the time of their death, Kones was MP for then Bomet Constituency while Laboso was MP for Sotik. Kones was minister while Laboso was assistant minister.
As if that was not enough, 10th June, 2012, a cold Sunday morning, breaking news covered our screens. The then Minister of Internal Security George Saitoti and his assistant Orwa Ojode perished in a deadly helicopter crash near Ngong as they flew to Ojode’s Ndhiwa constituency for a fundraiser.




The death of Saitoti prompted then President Kibaki to declare three days of national mourning. The country was shaken.
Theories could later emerge trying to unravel what led to the death of the Minister and former VC.
